Too Hot Summer

This summer, too, brought days of extremely dangerous heat. It became difficult to go outside. In addition, I wasn’t able to go on a long vacation since my kids had their own schedule, so I got myself the game Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch to take a break and refresh.

The game Hogwarts Legacy

The story of Hogwarts Legacy is set about 100 to 200 years before the events of the Harry Potter series. Even on the Nintendo Switch, the visuals are surprisingly beautiful, and I had a great time exploring the world of Harry Potter and solving the small mysteries scattered throughout the game.

Since plenty of blogs already cover the story and gameplay tips. So, On my blog, I share all the fun I had with the wardrobe items I collected and the hairstyle changes I tried at the in-game salon.

EmilyEmily of Gryffindor House

I created Emily as my first character. Initially, she styled her long hair into a relaxed bun at the back of her head. With glasses reminiscent of Harry Potter and a strong, determined expression, she looks ready for anything. Wearing her robe over her uniform, she wandered around the school, exploring every corner.

At the beginning of the game, I was too busy advancing the story to care much about my character’s appearance. Yet, as the story approached its conclusion, I found myself wishing it wouldn’t end. I experimented with different items I owned, dressing Emily in them. Gradually, she started to look really fashionable.

I had her hair trimmed to shoulder length at a salon in the nearby town and wrapped a Gryffindor scarf around her. Emily’s transformation, however, is far from over.

What a wonderful view! Since I’m controlling the character myself, it feels like I’m really there. She did so many things I never could—running to the next town, soaring through the skies, and taking walks at night.

Can you see where I am?

I changed into a red coat. I’m following the train tracks from the Harry Potter stories as I explore. I increased the sensitivity for this photo, but it’s actually much darker in the game. I’m playing on the TV, so the Switch screen itself might not show much.

At this stage, I hadn’t quite mastered flying on a broom, so I was still walking. Actually, Emily was learning how to ride, but I just didn’t understand the controller!

Exploring the school

Let’s head back to Hogwarts Castle. Here’s the Gryffindor common room. In the daytime, students fill the space, talking and having fun. The interior is mostly in Gryffindor red, filled with lovely furniture and decorations.

Just wandering around this room makes me feel enchanted. With gorgeous tapestries featuring a forest of trees, lamps adorned with fringes, and solid wrought-iron lighting on the grand beams, the room feels magical. And of course, you’ll find moving portraits and the pale ghosts roaming the castle. In the game, I noticed there’s no option to sit on the sofa. It would have been even better if that were possible!

I also really liked that there’s a way to gain experience in the game not just by defeating enemies, but by exploring the world and collecting field guide pages. Hogwarts has four houses, as you probably know, so I can’t wait to peek into the other houses’ common rooms. And I’ll also keep sharing updates on Emily!
