Gray outfit

My Favorite

This time, I’d like to share my favorite accessory styling. I didn’t wear accessories very often until recently because they tended to get in the way when taking care of my child. But now that my child has grown, I went out with an old friend, who suggested that we look for accessories together — and I found pieces I truly loved.

Navy & Gray

I bought a handmade bracelet in early summer at the Vietnam Festival in Shinjuku with the old friend I mentioned earlier. The bracelet has gray beads as the main color. There were many variations, and my friend chose purple. At first glance, it’s made of a summery material, but the gray color makes it feel like something you could wear all year round.

Since the day was approaching autumn, I paired it with a navy short-sleeve knit, a gray long pencil skirt, and black pumps. I usually wear plain outfits like this, but just this unique bracelet instantly brightened up my look.

Next, I paired it with a black long-sleeve knit. My black pointed-toe shoes broke, so I bought a new pair of black pumps with square toes. The skirt is the same as before, but I added a scarf made in India with lots of small tassels.

Moments like this—when I catch a glimpse of my favorite bracelet—always lift my mood. I owe a lot to the old friend who suggested this accessory. She always guides me to discover new experiences, softly opening up a whole new world.

Beige & Gray

Now, let’s move on to rings. I haven’t worn rings much lately, but I decided to give it a try. Since I really liked the gray bracelet I bought last time, I chose a ring in the same tone. This ring is made with moonstone, and the ones with other stones were also really cute. I had thought about getting a few more someday, but unfortunately the prices have gone up quite a bit, so it might be difficult.

The gray ring also went really well with beige outfit. With such a casual outfit, the ring may not have been the best match. But since I bought it, I want to wear it as much as possible. And with the coming season, on days when I wear a ring, I need to take a little care, like using hand cream.

RingPink & Gray

I have a dusty pink vest with a slightly curly texture like this. Stepping out in it always makes me a little anxious, since my usual clothes are pretty simple. Still, it’s fun to try something different sometimes. The knit I paired with the vest has a basic shape, but its pinkish-gray color complements the vest perfectly.

By the way, the vest can’t be worn in spring. That’s because these long, fluffy pieces tend to attract pollen. Japan has so many cedar trees, and the pollen in spring is overwhelming, causing many people to suffer from hay fever. Masks and allergy medicine are essential, as pollen irritates eyes and throats and causes runny noses. To prevent bringing pollen into the house, I also make sure to wear smooth-surfaced clothes. So they are really only suitable for autumn.

When I get busy and tired, I lose interest in fashion. And when taking care of my appearance starts to feel like a hassle, I go out less. I want to manage my workload better so I can create a life with enough room to truly enjoy the things that are meant to be enjoyed.

I’ll also post soon about the Vietnam Festival and the day I went to buy the ring!
